“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay” Habakkuk 2:3
God’s ways are unfathomable and escape human understanding. Right at the time the prophet was complaining to God, the Lord had already designed his plans. Even though he might appear motionless and inactive in front of abounding wickedness, he has already designed a solution to all your problems.
In Habakkuk 2, the Lord responded to the prophet by way of an encouraging message reassuring him: his word will certainly achieve its purpose at the appointed time. God’s ways are different from those of human beings and in his promises, there can neither be haste nor delay.
The circumstances we are facing might make us dubious and push us to ask when God will act. But just as Abraham had to wait for the fulfilment of the promise, we must as well patiently wait for the Lord’s appointed time. He promised to come back and when he comes back in all His glory, he will destroy Satan and all his agents and make our sorrows vanish forever. God will thereafter establish his everlasting love kingdom.
Chapter 11 of the book of Hebrews, verse 39 and 40 says, “and these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.” The promise he made to them will definitely be achieved as per his plan. Those who remained faithful and those among us today who will stay steadfast and faithful till the end, will see the fulfilment of his promise in its time.
The waiting period might look unendingly long and many of those in whom we trust might fall down on the way, but, just like the prophet who tried to encourage Juda at a period of unmatched apostasy, we as well need to confidently shout “The Lord is in His holy Temple. Let all the earth be silence before him!” Habakkuk 2:20
Be strengthened and have a pleasant work week.
